About Alexa Marks
Alexa is the main point of contact at the HealthyMarks Medicare team. Her industry experience in both Commercial Insurance, Personal Insurance, and Health Insurance gives her a great background to help our clients. Alexa grew up in Encinitas and Oceanside and is happy to be home. “We (Alexa and her husband Keaton) both grew up here in San Diego. It is an awesome feeling to be able to create a company that gives back to the people we work with. We love hearing the feedback that we are able to help someone better understand their health insurance.”
Alexa Marks's History
Alexa also attended Santa Fe Christian in Solana Beach. “You could say Keaton and I are high school sweethearts.” Alexa’s focus in high school was always volleyball. She was an elite indoor setter on CIF championship team. Alexa joined the TCU Horned Frogs for college where she continued to play beach volleyball.
After graduation, Alexa moved to Dallas to join a property management software company named Yardi. She quickly rose the ranks within the Account Management team and was consistently in the top 3 performers on her team.
After graduation, Keaton moved to Dallas, Texas to join a young rising company named Century Interactive. This budding company had created an amazing call tracking and call review software that helped businesses close more deals over the phone. During his time working with Reid Wakefield and Patrick Elverum at Century Interactive, Keaton learned as much as he could about sales and marketing. As the company was small but growing fast, Keaton was quickly given the opportunity to lead a new vertical: Patient Pursuit, Century Interactive’s dental office phone call software.
“It was my time working on Patient Pursuit that I realized I could start my own company and have the confidence to create something like HealthyMarks.” The Patient Pursuit product was a huge success and the team quickly grew from just Keaton to a team of 5. “I learned a lot about leadership, I learned how to do the gritty time-consuming work when nobody would notice but myself. I also failed often, but I learned how to pick our team back up and keep finding new wins.”
Keaton always knew that he would want to move back to San Diego eventually. Although he enjoyed his time in Dallas, Keaton found that after 5 years it was time to move home once more. “After seeing much of the United States… nothing can beat San Diego.” All in one year, starting January 2016, Keaton proposed to his now-wife Alexa, moved from Dallas to San Diego, started a new job working with Bill King at KingBenefits, and got married.
Alexa Marks's Health Insurance Experience
Still, Alexa and Keaton always wanted to move back to San Diego. In San Diego, Alexa joined a larger international company – HUB. Here Alexa learned the details of insuring large business properties and equipment. While Keaton was studying health insurance, Alexa was studying commercial insurance.
After years of gaining industry knowledge, Alexa agreed to join HealthyMarks and spearhead the Medicare team. The HealthyMarks Medicare division was created to ensure Keaton could help the employees he insures understand their options when turning 65. Alexa has taken this simple idea and created a successful division within the company.
